Ben Affleck: I’m Batman

31 Aug

Now that I have had time to get over the initial shock I have thought a lot about Ben Affleck playing the new Batman. Do I think he is a good choice for the role? The short answer is no. There are plenty of other people I think that would be better suited for the role and personally I would have preferred a no name to take on the task of filling Christian Bale’s shoes.

When I found out that Heath Ledger was playing the Joker I was more than furious. All I could think of was 10 Things I Hate About You and A Knight’s Tale—I did like both of those movies. I couldn’t even fathom how he could possibly pull off being Batman’s arch nemesis, but we all saw how that turned out. All it took to convince me was the first teaser they showed and you could only hear Heath speak for about five seconds. After that I had no doubt that he was the one to play the Joker.

Michael Keaton was chosen to play Batman in the original Tim Burton series and no one was happy about that choice either. He was in Mr. Mom and no one could see past that and picture him to play the Dark Knight. I—and I’m sure plenty will agree—think he was the perfect choice for those movies. He was an incredible Batman and Bruce Wayne, and the first two movies in that series were great.

So, from here on out I will keep an open mind until I see the trailer at least because he as done a good job lately and for all I know he might end up being incredible.

So I just have to agree there. The casting director chose him for a reason, right? So we just have to trust his/her judgment! 🙂
I would like to nominate you for the Liebster Award. My post explains it more fully:
